ephesians 3:20-21

My heart is so heavy for all of these people who have experienced these natural disasters recently. I sometimes feel out of touch with the world because I can't watch the news or read the newspapers, but I do try to stay somewhat informed with the internet. I have read stories and watched clips, and it takes all of my strength not to sob. I watched as these parents looked under blankets for their missing children, and I immediately thought that I wouldn't even know what to do if we lost Seth.


It also makes me think about where these people are now. How many of them knew the Lord?We had watched this video at our old church last year about these Chinese Christians who got their very own Bibles that had been smuggled into the country, and I felt so guilty that they were shedding tears of joy at being able to own their very own Bible. How many Bibles do I own?! I have never wept over the joyful thought of being able to read the Bible. I take it for granted.


I also thought about all of the people I met this summer in training who were going to be teaching in various schools throughout China. I wonder if any of them were near there. The old director of our school is now in China, and he said he felt it where he was. It's amazing how small the world seems to become through tragedies like this. I love to see how people pull together to help one another out, but I am angry for all of the people in Myanmar who are not being cared for despite efforts from other countries around the world. I am not even going to go there because I just get angry.


Big or small, there are tons of people hurting right now. My mind gets overwhelmed on even how to adequately pray for all of them, but then I know that I serve the risen Lord who is bigger than all of this and actually knows each one of these people by name. How fortunate are we that any one of us can have a relationship with him?!


"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
