slow cooker (crock pot)

I have made several good dinners in a row. This is a record for me. I never had the time, energy, or interest in cooking much before. I spent 10-12 hours a day at school working and then just wanted to throw something together for dinner that was fast and easy.

Fast and easy meals that you can buy at the grocery store just don't exist here. Well, there are a few but just not that many as compared to the US. I have discovered that most of the easy and quick solution foods can only be found in the States. There are hardly any box mix type things here. My mom brought me a ton of cake, jello, pudding, and biscuit mixes.

But now that I'm home all day, I have time to cook. So I am spending lots of time on the internet looking up recipes to make all sorts of things. I just bought a crock pot. (By the way, it's not like you can just run to a Target of something and pick one up whenever you want. You have to wait until they get a shipment in and hope you get to the store in time before they are out. They got a ton in at Christmas, hence me being able to get one!) My mom had given me a great recipe book for things to make only in the crock pot, but unfortunately, I forgot to pack it in our crate. Now I am finding new recipes that I have tried, all with success so far.

And let me also just say that Nusi was the greatest lifesaver when she came over and discussed with us about our oven. She told us just to put aluminum foil at the bottom of the oven to help even out the temperature. That's what her mom does. And although it's still not perfect, the oven is working SO much better. Our food is getting cooked more evenly and not burning nearly as fast. I still wish I could actually set the temperature, but I'll take what I have now over the uneven cooking before. So thank you Nusi!

This picture is for Grandma Dunham and Grandma Yaiko. Just showing you what he looks like today. Apparently I haven't been posting enough pictures. So enjoy!

Oh he is so cute!!! I'm so glad your oven is working better - the foil idea is a good one.
