you know your eggs are fresh...


...when there are still feathers attached.

And people laugh at me for washing the egg shells before I crack them open.

I used to wash mine all the time, and I still do, occasionally. I read somewhere that you greatly reduce your chances of getting salmonella if you wash your eggs before cracking. Something about how the bacteria is on the outside...

hmmm, don't know which I'd rather have, feathers or poop. My parents have chickens and they always give us eggs, but they're usually covered in poop.Yes, always wash your eggs!
