It's late, and I was headed to bed an hour ago. Then I got sidetracked. Then I decided I'd better blog just a minute to write down a few things about Seth. Because I want to remember. Because I know the grandmas (and the grandpas, and especially one aunt "Heifernie") will appreciate it.
We pray with Seth, meals and bedtime for sure and throughout the day when I remember to include him or when something comes up that we need to pray for right then. Meal times he chooses who he wants to pray. At bed time, he prays but likes for us to pray too. So usually we pray and he repeats what we say. Actually, that's how it goes most of the time. But now he's into saying it by himself and will then want us to repeat him. It's precious.
Things tonight that he thanked/prayed for all on his own:
Daddy who works so hard (his words)
Food
Today
Daddy, Mommy, Seth, and Baby Kate
Supporters
Great Grandpa's heart
Grandma's back
Grandpa's shoulder
There may have been a few more in there. But our favorite is how he closes each prayer now:
"Cows say moo, Aunt Stefanie says moo. Amen!"
No doubt that was encouraged by his father. Ha ha!
Oh, and since day one we have been working on manners, you know, like saying please and thank you, etc. We're now working on doing more than just adding a please to an "I want..." That drives me nuts hearing "I want" all the time. So we've been working on "May I please have..." or "I would like...please." I realize he's only two, but it's easier to work on this now than trying when he's older and in the habit of saying something else. (I've been reading How to Raise Unselfish Children in a Self-Absorbed World, and they keep reiterating the same thing that the earlier you start, the better. Not rocket science, but I do have to keep in mind that he's two.)
One thing Kevin is so good at teaching and reminding Seth of is saying thank you to me every night after dinner. My dad taught us and constantly demonstrated that same thing. It's great and so loving!

This is so sweet :) I am all about the manners as well. It's great though, Addie LOVES saying thank you, especially to strangers if we're at the store or out somewhere. I love it!
