ten thousand years

Today we had the privilege of visiting and speaking at one of our supporting churches. It was such a blessing! Kevin and I have been overwhelmed by this little country church of 60 or 70 people and their love and care for us. It was through his childhood best friend Jon that this church even came to support us, without us ever speaking to them or anything. They just started supporting us when we left for the field two years ago. So this was the first time that we got to go there, and we were just completely blessed by them. Many people whom I had never met were excited to meet us and tell us how they have been praying for us. We were paid the biggest comment of our entire life by one sweet gentleman there (Jon's grandpa), and I literally cried and hugged this man. This little church has a heart for missions and reaching the lost, and I wish every other church out there felt that way. I was humbled by their hearts and attitudes that reflected Christ. What a huge blessing!

Seth was a charmer and great kid through the whole thing. He made himself right at home since we got there so early, and he explored every corner of the little building. He sat with us during the service and went up front with us as well. He displayed his awesome throwing skills by chucking his pacifier several pew rows back, nearly nailing one woman. It was way past nap time, and so he had it to help him keep quiet. He loved being up front and decided he was done. Fortunately no one was hurt or offended by him, so it was good. :)

We got to sing some great hymns, which I greatly appreciated since we don't sing most of them anymore. We sang my grandfather's favorite "Victory in Jesus." It brought a smile to my face, as I'm sure he was rejoicing in heaven as we sang that one. We also sang "Amazing Grace," one of the favorites we all still sing today. But I can never get over the last verse when I think about it...

"When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we'd first begun."

Amazing! Makes me want to be sure that my friends and family will be there for eternity.

Way to go, Seth!

I love singing the old hymns, too. Something just seems a little more sacred, somehow, to me.
