miscellaneous

For today, I write a few random updates. Nothing much has been going on really, so I guess I'll just write to keep those of you who want to be informed!

I have 6 days of teaching left. Although I am really excited about that, I will miss these second graders. They truly are great. One of them informed me today that my stomach has gotten a lot bigger since when they first met me. They are throwing me a baby shower on Friday.

Kevin is going to be coaching basketball. Anything that has to do with basketball is his absolute love, so I am glad that he is going to be able to do that. The school is thrilled to have someone else with his capabilities coaching and helping out, so it looks like he will be helping with both boys and girls. He is in a meeting now talking with coaches. The intensity and time commitment is significantly less here than in the States, which means that I will still have a husband and our kid will still have a father during the season. I saw Kevin one afternoon/evening a week from November to February when he did basketball at Newark.

We had our first snowfall on Sunday. The first one is always beautiful and special. There are a lot of southerners who live here, and none of them know how to drive in the snow. That cracks me up, but it is nonetheless understandable. You'd think Columbus, OH was a part of the south by the lack of knowledge people have there about driving in the snow. Try living in Buffalo, NY! The snow melted pretty quickly, but it is still bitter cold.

We are waiting for papers to get processed before we have to go to immigration to get more paper work done before we can pick up our crate. I didn't know so much paper work had to be done on this side, and so we anxiously await some of our other things being delivered here. Hopefully we will have all of this taken care of by the end of next week.

It gets dark between 4:00 and 4:30 now. I am used to the days getting shorter, but we are further north on the globe, so our days get shorter faster than they did in the Midwest. It is just dark so early! It gets even worse in December.

My parents come in 23 days!!! Pray that our kid decides to arrive on time so that they can get as much time as possible with us all here.

Thanks for the updates, Kristen! I am glad to hear that things continue to go well for you and Kevin.
Enjoy your last few days of teaching...having kids is GREAT, but I do miss my students greatly.
I hope that Kevin enjoys coaching basketball and you are still able to have a lot of quality time together.
I am excited for you to have your parents visit. Moms are so great after you have your baby!

I find it quite funny how you and Kevin always reference the baby as our "kid" rather than the baby...

I don't always like referring to it as "the baby." Maybe that's because everyone is always talking about it and asking about it. I just like "kid" better. "Baby" just seems to be such a short stage. Since I am such a people pleaser, I can call it "baby" for your sake, though. :)

Baby is just more endearing...you'll understand once he's here!
