slow down

I remember my grandma telling me when I was younger that life got faster the older you got. I remember thinking that it wasn't possible. My grandma was right.

Kate wants to walk all the time. Problem is that she can't do it by herself yet. She cruises on the furniture, but that's not enough to satisfy her for very long. My back is killing me as I am constantly bending over to hold her hands so that she can chase her brother or wander up the stairs. I am loving this stage with our kids, so I want time to slow down. But I wouldn't mind it if it sped up a bit so that Kate could walk by herself, for my back's sake. ;)

Seth is fascinated by so much now. I must confess that I am super happy that he LOVES Lego's. I was a Lego fanatic as a kid and still love them today. Best toy ever. (No snarky remarks from my sister.) He used to just like to play with the trucks and people, but now he spends half of his day building things with them. We bought his some more blocks for his birthday, and I know he will be thrilled.

Kate is blabbering away all day. Of course most of it is gibberish to me, but I do understand some things now. She makes a sound similar to the word "more" when she wants more food or drink. She will say "uh oh" a lot, and it is adorable. She loves the magnets on the refrigerator, the letters and the butterfly ones in particular. She is also really into the laptop. She wants to bang on the keys and press buttons on it. And she does not like it when you tell her no. Ha ha!

Seth's ability to understand sarcasm astounds me. We have wonderful conversations now, and I love it. The other day he was telling me that he ran around the corner, fell, and hurt himself. I responded, "I'm sorry, buddy!" To which he replied, "It wasn't your fault, Mom. I hurt myself!" I also mentioned on Facebook the other day about his disappointment with his first try of Kraft mac 'n cheese. "That's cheese?! No it's not...I don't want fake cheese!" I don't blame him. I think it's disgusting. I thought all kids liked that, well, except for maybe me.

That's a general update on the kids. I am SUPER excited for Christmas this year as Seth is understanding a lot. He has been counting down the days until his birthday for quite some time. And he asked me if he could open up Kate's Christmas presents for her, too. He is excited, too, which makes me so excited!

My life has been revolutionized in recent weeks with the discovery of hooks that can be pounded into cement cinder block walls with only a hammer. I am not kidding. As someone who loves to decorate and hang things on the wall, this had been a real struggle for me living here. I am not afraid to use a drill, but it required borrowing one. Just a long process that I could never do when I wanted and on my own. Now, thanks to someone here sharing this great find with me, I feel freedom to make this rental home feel more like our home, one picture at a time. LOVE!!!

Hopefully a picture update tomorrow!
