per my sister's request...

...I am sharing this story.

One night last week Kevin had orientation before school started. I was going about doing our normal night time routine with Seth...dinner, play, bath, bed. The kid knows the schedule like the back of his hand. We've been doing it this way forever.

We like to play games throughout the day but also as he gets ready for his bath. He absolutely loves to play "Where is Seth?" where we obviously ask that question and he makes himself known and just giggles hysterically. I don't know what it is about this game that he likes so much, but we play it countless times a day. And he always gets so excited and reacts the same way! It's so fun.

At bath time after he is undressed and has his diaper off, he crawls around his room while we go into the bathroom and ask "Where is Seth?" Then he, as usual, just laughs and gets so excited and then crawls frantically into the bathroom, which is next to his room. Then he takes his bath, etc.

Anyway, back to the story. So last week I do the same thing. I go into the bathroom and ask for him. But this time there is absolute silence. So I ask again. Nothing, again. I ask for him one more time, and after no response, I go into his room. He is sitting on the rug in his room with his hands in poop. Literally, poop. Somehow in the time it took me to walk into the bathroom and call for him he managed to poop SO much that he was actually playing in it. He had stuck his hands in it and was then smearing it on his legs. He just looked and me and then smiled and laughed hysterically. He loved it.

To be quite honest, I had very mixed feelings about it all. Of course I was horrified to discover this. The thoughts that ran through my head included How am I going to get the rug clean?! and How am I going to clean him up without getting poop all over myself as well? and At least he's naked so I don't have to worry about getting any stains out of his clothes. But then his sheer delight and the huge smile on his face and the giggles coming out his mouth made it very difficult to be mad! I seriously had to laugh. I didn't like cleaning it up, and I didn't like the smell. I didn't like any of that, but goodness gracious, that kid is so cute and so funny it's hard to be mad for long!

I think I'm in big trouble for when the real discipline stuff has to start.

Oh, and as I was writing this, I thought I'd share with you that his name in Hungarian is spelled/pronounced Sét. And unless you know how that sounds, that won't matter obviously. But I thought it was quite funny because it sounds like a swear word, one that might have to do with this little story. :)

Here is the little stinker eating crackers and whatnot as he turns 9 months old today!

I'm curious as to how often Kevin calls him by his Hungarian name.

I still have a picture of finding Lindsay on my bed covered in white-out stick and mascara...Everywhere! I guess girls get messy with things that aren't gross! And who was watching her at the time? I mean, this took some effort....must have been Dave :)

I was hoping for a picture too! And might I say that you are a brave soul for taking the diaper off so soon. Madi has hers removed as she stands beside the tub and is then immediately put into the tub. After getting peed on once, I don't want to risk another one.

Wow -looks like this entry will get the most comments! Couldn't let this pass without remembering Kevin's preoccupation with this topic, from elementary school reports to describing Hungarian toilets. You are right Doug -in this area it looks like Seth takes after his dad - poor kid.
