before and after

Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like you missed the memo that everyone else got? Yah.

And, it was 8 years ago today that I first met Kevin. Wow!

Now for the before...

And after...

A few bucks at the antique market, a little black spray paint (sorry for the light reflecting off of it in the picture!), a little fabric, and we have a new stool!

Fabric is seriously lacking here. Thanks to Julie for the suggestion of buying a pillow cover! This is the best choice I could find. I was really hoping for some sort of scroll or toile. Oh well. I had a terrible time trying to get the corners of the stool pad to look decent when I stapled them. First project though, and I'm pretty pleased. It looks WAY better and pretty much matches some other colors in the room. Yeah!

Oh, and I got a free tile at the store today. That's right, my streak of getting free stuff has continued here. Kevin has always laughed at all the free stuff I have managed to get, but this was the first time here in Hungary. Double YEAH! I just saw this really cool tile on a shelf while I was picking up some black spray paint, and I thought I could hot glue gun some hooks on the back, add some ribbon, and hang it up. (It's a decorative, accent sort of tile, not like the plain stuff you put up in bathrooms or on the floor.) So the lady is ringing it up, and it doesn't work. She tries a few other things and then says something to me. I told her I didn't speak much Hungarian, and she was kind and understood. She called one of the tile guys over and they start talking. They say some numbers and only a few other words I actually understand. They both start talking to me in Hungarian, and again, I tell them (in Hungarian) that I only speak a little Hungarian. Again, they were patient and nice about it (unlike many other experiences I've had over here) and basically told me that I could just have it for free! It made my day. Thanks Praktiker! I will continue to shop at your store.

I am so excited to redo something else, but I have nothing else to redo right now. I will be on the look out for something...

Kristen, my dear, I am always so impressed by your skills and attitude! When I'm challenged by Proverbs 31, I think of you and how you make it work. Well done on the stool, seriously, and congrats to Kevin for getting himself a keeper! :)

I can't see the difference in the two pictures.

That is awesome. We can find you some toile if you want... I am positive, so if you want to change it later, we can! That is so fun...
